Donnelly says Ireland will have enough vaccines for everyone and rules out single dose approach

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that Ireland is still on track to offer 4 in 5 adults at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by June.

Speaking to Newstalk, the Minister for Health stated that the country will have enough vaccines for everyone in the country that wants one.

Donnelly told the station that there are currently no considerations being made in a taking a single dose approach to the vaccine as two doses provides for strong effectiveness against the virus.

Meanwhile the Minister for Health also said that the current plan is to continue to issue the AstraZeneca vaccine to all age groups but the situation is being reviewed by NIAC.

He told Newstalk that current guidance is to continue as normal, but a decision on the administration of the vaccine is expected over the next day or two.
