Donnelly: We could go back to Level 2 restrictions in December

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said the country could go to Level 3 or possibly Level 2 restrictions on December 1st if case numbers continue to fall.

Donnelly who revealed that the current R number is now between 0.7 and 0.9 said we could potentially go back a number of phases if all goes well.

However the Health Minister says he fully agrees with the Taoiseach Micheal Martin saying that the country should remain in Level 5 restrictions until December 1st.

Donnelly added that it is the Government’s full intention that retailers will be able to open in what is their most important time of the year.

Although he did warn any decision on what Level the country would be placed in would not be made until a week before restrictions are due to be relaxed.

He added that there could be different levels in different regions.
