Over 1,200 Irish Water customers in Co Meath have been urged not to use tap water for drinking, washing or cooking by Irish water this afternoon.
The warning comes after dangerous levels of chlorine were discovered in the water supply. Irish Water say the following areas including Kilcloon, Moygaddy, Killeany, Kilgraigue, Harristown, Brownstown, Ballynare, Butlerstown, Staffordstown, Brownrath, Blackhall Little, Waynestown, Harlockstown and Ballymacoll have been affected by the issue.
It is thought the warning comes after a number of residents in the above areas uploaded images to social media showing themselves with a rash on their skin.
Irish Water say they are working to rectify the problem, and have urged people to attend their GP if they present with any symptoms.
