Dr Tony Holohan angered after receiving anonymous abusive phone calls – garda investigation launched

Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan is said to be furious after he received a number of abusive phone calls over the weekend.

Sources told The Liberal that Holohan was furious with the phone calls which were reportedly very abusive in nature.

Ireland’s Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly tweeted that Holohan deserves our respect and support.

“It is absolutely appalling that public health doctors advising government would be targeted with abuse for doing their jobs in the middle of a pandemic,” Donnelly tweeted.

They have worked relentlessly throughout Covid and have difficult jobs to do.
“Our public health officials have been working around the clock for well over a year now to keep us safe and provide us with the best possible expert advice,” The former Minister for Health Simon Harris tweeted.

“Sickened to hear of abusive calls being directed at them and their families.”

Gardai have launched an investigation to who was behind the phone calls.
