Dr Tony Holohan says he doesn’t envisage a scenario were schools will need to be closed following mid term break

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that he doesn’t anticipate a scenario were schools will be kept shut.

Speaking about possible extension to the current Mid term break, Dr Holohan said current data suggests that schools can continue to operate as normal.

Dr Holohan said that he doesn’t envisage a case were NPHET would issue advice that suggets schools shouldn’t reopen as planned.

The Chief Medical Officer’s comments come after a number of teachers have expressed concerns about the reopening of schools during the pandemic.
