A boil water notice that was in place for thousands of households across Co. Mayo has been lifted today.
The notice, which came into effect on September 2 due to the presence of the potentially deadly cryptosporidium bacteria in the water, affected areas including Castlebar, Westport and Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Knock, Ballindine, Balla, Kilmaine, Cong, and many others.
Irish Water released a statement yesterday saying “Customers can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.”
