There was some good news for publicans and consumers today as it has been reported that the Good Friday ban on alcohol sales could be lifted.
However the 90 year old Bill which has drawn criticism in the past will not be lifted until next year.
According to The Irish Times the abolishment of the ancient law was given a boost after the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald decided not oppose a bill put forward by a group of Independent Senators, that recommends an end to the current law.
The paper also claim the ban could be incorporated into the Government’s Sale of Alcohol Bill, which is due to be submitted in the Dáil later this year.
