Dublin Bus strike Day 2: Crammed Luas and quiet streets around the capital

The second day of Dublin Bus’ opening salvo in the escalating dispute over pay and conditions has seen throngs of people attempting to cram into already full Luas trams, and quieter than usual streets around the capital.

As the second day of strike gets underway, buses remain idle at their depots as frustrated commuters attempt to make their way to their destinations as best they can.

Yesterday, heavy traffic congestion was reported around Dublin and all major approach routes, as thousands of extra private vehicles swarmed the roads.

The current 48-hour long strike will end at midnight tonight. Further days of strike are planned if no resolution is reached.
