Dublin City Council announce that 22 homeless families will be able to move into purposely built modular housing in Ballymun next month

There was some good announced recently as Dublin City Council have revealed that 22 homeless families will be able to move into new purposely built modular homes in Poppintree in Ballymun next month.

The latest announcement comes after contractors have all but completed the project 4 months behind schedule with the homes supposed to be completed by last December. The City Council say the units have now been “substantially completed” with works expected to be fully completed next month.

They also say the total cost of the overall project will be €4.2 million, with each unit costing in the region of €190,000 to build. However the welcome news only marks a small dent in addressing the current homelessness crisis as latest figures show that there are currently 790 families and 1,616 children living in emergency accommodation.
