Tragic: Tributes pour in for Tracey Campbell Fitzpatrick who died just minutes after giving birth on Easter Monday

A mother of three children tragically died on Easter Monday just minutes after giving birth to a baby boy in St Luke’s Hosptial in Kilkenny.

36-yr-old Tracey Campbell Fitzpatrick will be removed to her native Mayo on Thursday where Requiem Mass will be held on Friday morning. Her parents, James and Pauline Campbell, her husband, Bernard, her children, Jamie, Adam and Max, and her siblings, Amanda, Paula, Diane and Alan are expected to all be in attendance.

The hospital have confirmed that a full review is now underway into the circumstances of the tragedy.

Shortly after delivering her third baby on Easter Monday, Max, Mrs Fitzpatrick’s condition suddenly began to deteriorate and she was rushed to theatre but tragically died before emergency surgery could begin.

A St Luke’s spokesperson confirmed a review is taking place:
“The staff and management of St Luke’s Hospital are currently focused on supporting the family at this very sad time,” they said.

“An internal review process has commenced and with a full investigation to follow.”

Mrs Fitzpatrick was living with family in Templepeter outside Nurney, Co Carlow over recent years.
Her husband is a native of Carlow and was employed locally.

Relatives of Mrs Fitzpatrick were said to be too heartbroken to comment on the tragedy.
