Philip Murphy had been sentenced to a decade (10 years) of imprisonment for kidnnapping a woman, a sentence he received in 2009.
This incident occurred in 2008, when Mr Murphy kidnapped a Polish woman in Clondalkin.
However the 35 year old was allowed to leave via a side door today, escaping the press waiting outside.
It was stated in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that Murphy was a prime suspect in another case.
The young man had been detained for questioning to do with an attempted kidnapping of a European woman, however there was insufficient evidence to charge him.
Mr Murphy exited the prison and was driven to an unknown location.
Members of the public expressed their dismay at the fact of this suspect now living in their midst.
