The Department of Tourism is planning a country music festival to take place on the dates of the cancelled concerts. The aim is to attract people who have already booked accommodation for the shows.
A Failte Ireland representative said that the free music events would hopefully help to promote Dublin to the 70,000 people who were coming from overseas to see Garth Brooks.
