Dublin City Council will spend about €750,000 building a new public park in the Liberties area of the city next year.

The new amenity, known as Weaver Park, will be located in a currently vacant area between Cork Street and Chamber Street. The Chamber Street flat complex, demolished back in 2008, once stood there.

The park will feature a new open green area, a terraced area, and a skateboarding facility. Play equipment for children up to 10 years of age will also be a permanent feature, as well as facilities for disabled children.

Construction of Weaver Park is scheduled to commence in 2016.
