Dublin’s St Patrick’s Day parade is going ahead despite many wanting it cancelled

At this stage, the Dublin St Patrick’s Day parade is still going ahead despite many social media users posting their dismay at the event going ahead.

The annual event normally attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all across the globe for the entire St Patrick’s Day extravaganza across a week of celebrations.

However this year, because of the coronavirus, things are very different. People are calling for the main St Patrick’s Day parade to be completely cancelled for fear of mass spreading of the coronavirus to those attending the parade.

It appears to have fallen on deaf ears however as the caretaker Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has announced that at this stage, the government are not planning on cancelling any planned large gatherings, even though there’s a horrendous risk of coronavirus being widely spread.

It’s understood that the HSE will continue to monitor the situation and they will announce details as to their plans as the days go by.
