The 18-yr-old Egyptian who carried out the terror attack in Dundalk yesterday morning is named Mohammad and arrived in Ireland within the last week.

He was refused asylum in the UK and made his way down to the Republic from the north via Scotland.

It’s now understood that the coward attacked the Japanese man from behind as his victim was walking to a factory where he worked wearing headphones.

It’s also known that the two Irish men were both attacked, one stabbed in the back as well and another hit hard around the head with an iron bar.

Both victims will survive but are said to have lost a considerable amount of blood in the attacks, especially the second man who ran into a chemist for help and was bleeding out in the shop.

Various sources claim ‘Mohammad’ was shouting allahu akbar during the attacks and again in gardai custody yesterday afternoon but this hasn’t been officially confirmed by gardai.

He is currently detained in Dundalk garda station.
