An Post have confirmed that they are to zero emissions postal services to Dublin by the end of the year.
Under the new proposals An Post plan to run 200 electric vehicles by the end of the year around the capital.
It is understood the company plan to increase the service by another 500 vehicles in 2020, with the initiative being expanded to Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kilkenny and Waterford.
An Post say the change is needed in order to accommodate the company’s ever changing service.
They added the new vehicles will operate between Grand Canal and Royal Canal initially with further expansion expected later this year.
