The deadliest Ebola outbreak in history has claimed the lives of over 4,000 people thus far. Though that is the official number, experts believe that the actual figure is likely to be far higher, as many victims die alone, away from medical centers, and thus remain unnacounted for.
The virus has reached Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, Liberia (where the majority of deaths have occurred), the United States, and Spain.
Other suspected cases in France and Macedonia have turned out to be false.
Nevertheless, health screening will be introduced with immediate effect in ports and airports in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
