Ebola: Health professionals urge countries, including Ireland, to be on high alert

The deadly Ebola virus is now active in Spain, USA and Australia. A 57-yr-old woman in being treated in Cairns, Queensland, Australia tonight, with what is being described as “Australia’s first case of Ebola”.

The danger is that the woman is being treated in tourist-populated Cairns. Many backpackers from all over the world visit the north east city, get unknowingly infected and fly home to their homeland.

The USA now has several cases of the virus, while Spain is treating a nurse who ironically was treating an infected patient just one week ago.

The World Health Authority now have now Western Countries, including Ireland, on high alert for anyone presenting with symptoms of Ebola.

People are asked to remain calm but vigilant, and to attend hospital if flu-like symptoms prevail for more than 2-3 days.
