The Eiffel Tower was closed for a time on Monday, after a man was spotted climbing up the well known landmark.
It is believed that the man began his ascend from the second level of the tower, about 150m high, and reached the top about six hours later.
Emergency services rushed to the scene as the building was evacuated. Nearby streets were also cleared and cordoned off.
The man was eventually arrested and led away. His motivation for the stunt remains a mystery.
The Eiffel Tower has since re-opened to the public.
