Eight people have died in separate shooting incidents across three sites in rural Mississippi, according to local law enforcement agencies.
The shootings took place last night, local time, in Lincoln County. A deputy sheriff is believed to be among the dead.
The motive for the killings remains unclear.
Police say a suspect is in custody.
