Dublin Fire Brigade have now said that a total of eight fire engines has been sent to deal with a major fire at the Metro Hotel in Ballymun.
It has been reported that the top five storeys of the building have been engulfed in flames and a mass evacuation has been implemented.
A number of eyewitnesses say the fire which is spreading rapidly, has blown out a number of windows in the hotel.
Although it has been previously reported that the hotel which also has an apartment complex, that houses a number of homeless people, reports say there are currently no homeless people being currently housed at the hotel.
