An 85-year-old paedophile in the UK has died eight months after serving an 18-year sentence after “choking on a drink”.
Believed to be one of Britain’s oldest paedophiles, Alan Styles was placed in a hospice by HMP Birmingham to die on compassionate grounds.
He sexually assaulted three schoolgirls after giving them gifts for four years.
According to the Metro, one of his victims was only eight years old when he started attacking her, and two others were under 14.
The first victim confided in specialist public protection officers before police searched the Styles’ home for evidence.
Officers discovered a camera and memory cards containing 665 indecent images of children. Later, the team found his other two victims.
He was sentenced to 18 years in prison in November 2020 after admitting a total of 27 offenses including rape, sexual assault, indecent imagery and sexual activity with a child.
The pensioner was hospitalised several times between December 2020 and April 2021 for treatment.
The prison and probation ombudsman determined that Styles died of the frailty of old age.
There were no issues of concern and the care he received behind bars was equivalent to that he would have received at home, the PPO inquest heard.
