An elderly woman is in a life threatening condition in hospital in Drogheda following an alleged assault at a house in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Gardaà rushed to a house in the Glenwood Estate in the town early on Friday afternoon.
An elderly woman sustained head injuries and that gardaà are investigating the nature of the weapon used in the attack.
She was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries.
Two other women were also badly injured and were taken to the Louth County Hospital in Dundalk for treatment.
A man was arrested in the house and is currently being held at a garda station in Co Louth.
Gardaà say the investigation is ongoing.
