An elderly woman in her 70s, who was badly injured in a house fire in Drogheda Co Louth last August, has sadly passed away in hospital.
The tragic news was confirmed by Gardaí yesterday evening. The victim was Eva Berrill, from Chord Road in Drogheda. Gardai say Mrs Berrill, who was left disabled following a stroke ten years ago, had not left the hospital since the attack on 16th August.
They also that the State Pathologist has been informed of Mrs Berrill’s death and a post-mortem examination will take place. A woman has been arrested and charged with arson in relation to the incident and the case is currently awaiting trial.
