Minister for Arts, Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring was bitten by a dog on a canvass yesterday evening in Geesala, Mayo.

The Deputy was putting his “best foot forward” after a dog took a disliking to him and decided to bury his teeth into the politician’s left leg.

Ring said he’d continue to canvass but it’s believed the Deputy had to cut the door-to-door stop short as he was driven to hospital to receive a tetanus injection.

Ring said that getting a bite was just a hazard of the campaign trail.
