Love Thy Baby: U.S adoption agencies launch nationwide appeal for short term volunteers to give newborn babies their ‘cuddles and love’

In what many would call a strange but caring public campaign, it has been revealed that American adoption agencies have launched a nationwide appeal for loving people to take in newborn babies put up for adoption and give them their cuddles and love.

According to ABC News American Adoption agencies nationwide are searching for temporary caregivers to nurture and care for newborn babies as they await adoption. In the new campaign adoption agencies are appealing for new specific volunteers who are willing to cuddle, hug, and love the babies during their first few weeks.

It is understood that willing volunteers are subjected to a background checks and home visits on a regular basis. Adoption agencies say the willing couples will be asked to care for the newborn for a short period of time before the little one is found a new home, they also say they will help cover some necessary expenses including diapers, formula, clothing, and transportation.

Meanwhile Joan Jaeger, vice president of outreach and communications for Adoption Learning Partner told ABC News: “It’s our most popular volunteer activity because everyone loves holding newborn babies. Newborns benefit so much from the one-on-one care.”
