The leader of the Sinn Fein party Gerry Adams has reiterated his previous claims by stating that his party will not consider entering government with either of Ireland’s two main parties to form a coalition.
With both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail dismissing to possibility of joining forces it seemed that either party could form an alliance with Sinn Fein to form a government, but Mr Adams dismissed that notion by stating he has absolutely no intention of doing business with Mr Kenny or Mr Martin.
The Sinn Fein leader told reporters: “We aren’t going to go in there (to government) and betray our electorate and betray the other people who need a progressive government.” “We are not going to go in and prop up a regressive and negative old conservative government, whatever the particular party political complexion.”
Mr Adams coalition rejection comes after his party experienced better results in this years general election than in 2011 with his party expected to have as many as 30 seats in the 32nd Dail.
