It’s Fianna Fail’s turn to turn on the pre-election promises tab today.

If given control of the country, Fianna Fail would introduce flood-protection insurance for those affected by regular flooding and who are shunned by private insurance firms.

And the promises didn’t end there; Micheal Martin went as far as saying that they would invest €18m in an Irish language and Gaeltacht plan, and also ensure that rural areas were kitted out with broadband access.

On this last point, he said “Proper high-speed broadband and accessibility to broadband is probably the singlemost effective thing any Government could do in terms of saving existing jobs in small businesses and companies across rural Ireland and ensuring we can attract new companies establish and create jobs.”
