Emergency departments ‘concerned’ as covid cases continue to drive up around the country

Emergency departments around the country are saying that they’re under increased pressure due to the continuous rise in covid case numbers.

Over the past week, more than 80,000 new cases have been detected but thankfully the number of people in ICU with the virus has remained stable.

As it stands, covid cases have begun to spiral again with hospitals around the country said to be under immense pressure again. Calls for the reintroduction of masks have been thrown out the window with an expected surge to happen at the start of April, but it should fall off from then.

The vast majority of people got at least double jabbed over the past year and a half since vaccines were introduced into Ireland, but that hasn’t stopped tens of thousands of people contracting covid of the St Patrick’s Day weekend.

Symptoms vary with people. Some get cold-like symptoms while others get bad chests and gastro problems.
