Two passenger jets were forced to divert to Irish airports today after declaring emergencies onboard.
A Turkish Airlines flight made an unscheduled stop at Shannon Airport due to a medical emergency, while a Delta flight landed at Dublin airport because of a technical fault.
The Turkish Airlines flight originated in Istanbul and was bound for New York. The aircraft landed safely just before 11am this morning and was met by paramedics at the runway, where a passenger was removed and rushed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. The aircraft resumed its journey a short time later.
The Delta flight landed in Dublin shortly after 11am, reportedly due to a problem in on its restrooms.After engineers assessed the problem, it was deemed safe for the aircraft to resume its journey to Amsterdam.
