Emergency Services offer joint statement to stay safe this Halloween weekend and to mind animals

The Fire Brigade, Ambulance workers and Gardai have all offered their advice to stay safe this Halloween weekend.

The emergency services will be inundated with calls over the weekend and have asked people to be cautious when around bonfires and especially when using any form of fireworks.

Spokesperson Daniel Mccarthy said:
” The fire services in the country will receive literally 1000s of calls over the coming days. Many will be related to bonfires, but we cannot rule out any form of usual call the service may get. This means that the units will be completely put to the pin of their collar, more than likely with gardai on the scene too.”

He continued, “we also have to take into consideration the emergency facilities in hospitals. We ask everyone to take precautions but inevitably the hospitals will be even busier than ever”.

He concluded:
“We just ask people to be and stay safe and very importantly to keep animals inside and/or as safe as possible.
