Emergency services have reminded people to be extra careful in water at this time of year after two 15-yr-old teenagers tragically died following a swimming accident in Co Clare on Thursday.

The two young boy’s have been named as Jack Kenneally and Shay Moloney. They died in hospital after they got into difficulties while they were out swimming at a quarry on the outskirts of Ennis in the good weather this week.

Both boys were rescued by emergency personnel but unfortunately they died a short time later at University Hospital Limerick.

It’s understood that one boy got into difficulty and the other tried to rescue his friend. Emergency personnel have said for people to be wary of such quarries, they’re considerably deeper than they appear. They’ve advised people to swim in supervised swimming pools or at a lifeguard-manned beach.
