It is the end of the road for the once-mighty Internet Explorer (IE) browser, over a quarter of a century after it first appeared on computers worldwide.
The Microsoft software, launched in 1995, became the internet browser de rigueur for over 10 years, until Microsoft was forced to de-couple it from its Windows operating system following an anti-trust lawsuit.
IE has often been plagued by issues related to hacking and poor performance. It will be officially retired in June 2022.
