
The Tánaiste has said the Government will finalise “an appropriate intervention” to address rising fuel and energy costs next week, reports Breaking News.
Simon Harris said the measures are set to be approved at the next Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, reports Breaking News.
Speaking in the Dáil, Mr Harris said: “This Government understands the pressures families and businesses are under.
“They are feeling it at the pumps – where the cost of filling a car has risen considerably in the space of just over a fortnight – and they are seeing it in the cost of a fill of oil,” reports Breaking News.

The Minister for Finance said he had been in discussions with his officials, the Taoiseach, and other relevant ministers, adding: “This evening, I want to confirm to this House that we are now finalising what we believe to be an appropriate intervention for the areas in which there is most acute pressure and challenge.
“The Government’s response will be agreed at the next Cabinet meeting,” reports Breaking News.
Mr Harris said he believes any intervention should initially be implemented for a limited period.
He was speaking during a two-hour Dáil session focused on a Sinn Féin motion concerning energy and fuel costs, reports Breaking News.
The party urged the Government to abandon plans to increase carbon tax on home heating oil from May 1 and to cut fuel costs through emergency legislation on mineral oil taxes, reports Breaking News.
