England’s Rugby World Cup dream now over as Australia run riot at Twickenham

England’s Rugby World Cup dream is over after they were defeated by a rampant Australian team at Twickenham this evening.

The wallabies were fully deserving of their 33-10 win as star performer Bernard Foley scored two tries in the first half to give Australia a comfortable lead going into the break. England however did start the second half more brightly as Ben Watson scored a try to give English fans something to cheer and offer some hope, but the match was effectively killed with 10 minutes to go as England’s fly-half Owen Farrell was sin binned after committing a foul for a dangerous high tackle and Australia took full advantage scoring a third and decisive try with minutes remaining.

The win will also be welcomed in te Welsh valleys as the result means Wales qualify for the quarter finals along with the Aussies who they now face for an all important top spot in the pool. The win now means the tournament will go on without the hosts for the first time in a number of years.
