Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will return to Neighbours before the show ends this summer after an absence of more than 30 years for the characters, it has been confirmed by the show’s bosses.
The pair will return to the Australian soap opera as Ramsay Street power couple Scott and Charlene Robinson for the series finale.
The stars had already sparked speculation among die-hard fans after posting images of what appeared to be a story of the neighbours on Instagram.
Minogue’s post featured the first half of the show’s title and Scott’s name, while Donovan shared an image of the last part of the title and Charlene’s name.
And now there is an official confirmation by those responsible for the program.
Posting on Twitter, Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison said: “Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.
“We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale.
“It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I’m sure it will be for our viewers.”
The announcement has delighted viewers of the soap, who have been swift to express their enthusiasm on social media.
