There was a major shock in France tonight as Iceland pulled off the result of Euro 2016 by beating England 2-1 in Nice.
In a game that England widely expected to win, it was the Icelandic’s that deservedly took the spoils in the south of France, after goals from Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kolbein Sigthorsson turned it around after England took the lead from the spot through Wayne Rooney in the first half.
Although England tried to get back in the game they fairly rarely threatened the Icelandic goal in the second half. The tiny nation with a population less than 400,000 now take on the mighty France in the last eight on Sunday.
