The first picture taken by its probe Philae on the surface of a comet has been released by The European Space Agency.

This is the first ever spacecraft to land on a comet. Although it was not a smooth landing and took three attempts to get it right – the ESA says the lander is now stable.

A Twitter account has been set up tracking the robot probe’s actions and it already has more than 250,000 followers.
