At his burial in Cork, mourners heard that jockey Michael O’Sullivan accomplished more in his lifetime than most people would in two, reports RTE.

Mr. O’Sullivan lived life to the fullest, according to Parish Priest Fr. Gerard Coleman’s sermon at St. John the Baptist Church in Glantane.

According to Fr. Coleman, his parents claimed they could not have asked for a finer son; he made them very happy and proud of the man he became, reports RTE.

He said that Mr. O’Sullivan was mature for his age.

“Michael had tremendous understanding. He understood his horses and that is why he was such a great rider but he also understood people and that his why he made a lasting impression on everyone and won he hearts of the Irish people. Everyone loved him. He was an incredibly, talented, dedicated sportsman who will never be forgotten,” reports RTE.

Fr. Coleman assured his family that just as Jesus did not die, “your beloved Michael” would not either.

William, the father of Mr. O’Sullivan, spoke to the crowded church before to the start of the burial ceremony, reports RTE.

He claimed that the young man had made them all incredibly proud and had been a pleasure from the beginning.

He expressed gratitude to the community and emergency services for their unwavering support during these trying times, reports RTE.

According to Mr. O’Sullivan, his son had always desired to be a jockey and attending college was never a guarantee.

“Michael had it in his head from a young age that he wanted to be a jockey. He agreed to go (to university) as long as he could pursue his riding career. We have it on good authority that he read the Racing Post during lectures in UCD but despite this he was awarded an honours degree in Agricultural Science. It was another proud day for us all”, reports RTE.
