Everything is not so ‘Hunky Dory’: After Australian supermarket claims Tayto as British

In recent weeks that British nation have claimed UFC superstar Conor McGregor and Golf’s Open sensation Paul Dunne as one of their own to much to our annoyance, but now it has emerged that neighbors across the water have taken another step and laid claim to our own beloved crisp Tayto.

The news comes after Redditor McRophage found the nations popular snack placed in British foods section at Coles supermarket in Australia. The move has provoked an angry response on social media recently with many claiming that the move was in bad taste (excuse the pun). Although the store question may not have a dedicated Irish foods section many still believe that the hugely popular snack should have been classed as 100% Irish.

The news however should not be surprising as the British nation have claimed many Irish foods and ancient artifacts as their own in the past, with the nations most popular alcoholic beverage Guinness being claimed as originally being created in Wales. The British nation also tried to claim one of country’s oldest ancient artifacts the Book of Kells as their own despite not being able to read it.

Seriously? What’s next the Tayto sandwich? Surely this well and truly takes the biscuit!
