Explosive device found in Dublin

An explosive device was found in Dublin last night. The Army bomb disposal unit was called in to the make device safe.

The suspect device was understood to have been found in the garden of a private residence in Ronanstown by the owner, earlier this evening
It is believed that the device was found in an overgrown area and may have been there for some time.

The army bomb disposal team quickly arrived at the scene at around 8.30pm last night. The area was cordoned off and a number of houses were evacuated, while road closures were put in place for public safety.
The device was taken apart at the scene.

Members of the Gardai are now investigating the discovery and the scene was declared safe at 9.30pm last night.
