Extremist organization ISIL claims responsibility for French priest murder, saying that attack was ‘carried out by soldiers’

Terrorist organization ISIL has claimed responsibility for this morning’s brutal attack in France, which ended up with one elderly priest being brutally murdered, and several people injured, some of them seriously.

ISIS released a statement saying that its soldiers carried out the action.

Two people armed with knives entered a church in the town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, near the city of Rouen, in France’s Normandy region, during morning mass celebration.

They held mass-goers hostage, and at some point they killed the church’s priest by slitting his throat, and injured several others.

The perpetrators were shot dead by police operatives when they exited the church.

There has been international condemnation of the incident. France, and Europe at large, continues to be on a heightened state of alert due to a string of attacks linked to islamic extremists.
