Face masks could be mandatory until Spring 2022

The use of face masks in public settings could potentially remain in place until the Spring of 2022 as part of the Government’s roadmap of easing Covid-19 restrictions.

According to The Irish Times, the use of face masks look set to continue over the winter months with them being made mandatory in public settings such as transport and shops.

The news of the mandatory use of face masks has also been reinforced by comments made by Dr Catherine Motherway who says face masks could be with us for foreseeable future.

Speaking to RTE, Dr Motherway said the use of face masks in public settings will most definitely be required over the winter months as the country looks to contain the spread of the virus.

Dr Motherway also suggested other such measures such as social distancing and hand washing will be required over the winter.
