Social media giant Facebook has announced that it will soon introduce new regulations about live streaming events, in the aftermath of the recent massacre in Christchurch, New Zealand, where 49 people were gunned down inside two mosques.
Facebook has issued somewhat vague guidelines and spoken of ‘breaking rules against dangerous organisations and individuals’ and a ‘one-strike policy’ for offenders. The precise nature of the new regulations has not been explicitly clear yet.
The perpetrator of the Christchurch massacre, 28-year-old Australian man Brenton Tarrant, live-streamed the shootings through his Facebook account.
