As tensions between the United States and Iran continue to skyrocket Germany and Holland have ordered their military personnel in Iraq to suspend their training missions with Iraqi authorities.

The Dutch ANP news agency reports the decision from the high command of the German and Netherlands militates came after intelligence of a security threat to Western troops in the country was received.

This move comes after the US evacuated all non-essential personnel from its embassy and consulates in Iraq and the UK Foreign Office declared it was in crisis mode in relation to the mounting dears of an armed conflict with Iran.

The US has moved extra military assets, including an aircraft carrier strike group and B52 bombers, to the region as tensions with Iran over its nuclear programme and tightening sanctions rapidly rise.

Despite the rising tensions US President Donald Trump has stated that the US does not seek war with Iran and has passed the Oval Office number to the Iranians via the Swiss embassy and the Supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini has said there will be “no war” with the US.
