“Family and Friends will be in my house” – People are not happy with Dr Tony Holohan’s Christmas comments

At one point in this horrendous covid journey, people waited on Dr Tony Holohan’s every word as to just how, what and when we’re meant to act in an effort to stop the spread of the pandemic. However, it appears that obedience has waned.

People are saying that their family and friends will be around their Christmas dinner table regardless of Levels, lockdowns or anything that Holohan has to say.

There has been a major backlash aimed directly at the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan after his interview on Friday night’s Late Late Show.

Holohan was off work for most of the summer due to minding this sick wife. He’s been back to work since last Monday week and since then Ireland has gone into Level 5, thanks to NPHET.

Holohan said that he understands how people are sick of hearing from him but that we all have to band together for the next six weeks. If we do that, Holohan said that we may be able to have a proper Christmas.

He told host Ryan Tubridy that we need do what we did back in March and stay at home unless for essential work or essential shops.

Holohan said that he understood how people who have had to shut their shops again are not happy about the situation but effectively the numbers are far too many to not justify a Level 5.

Social media users have said that they couldn’t care less what Holohan had to say and that they’ll have their family and friends around their Christmas table and that life’s too short.
