Gardaí claim that the teenager who escaped from a Garda official van in Galway city last night has not yet been returned to custody.
The young man was arrested at the Galway shopping centre on robbery charges. Gardaí said that he escaped from the van while members of the army were conducting further investigations into the incident.
A video posted on social media shows the boy getting out of the van parked at the Headford Road shopping centre.
The teen can be seen smashing the door panel on the side of the truck and fleeing the scene.
