Fears of escalating violence in North Dublin as Blanch and Balbriggan gangs clash over the weekend

After a weekend of violent incidents there are fears that the current gang fighting between groups of youths from Blanchardstown and Balbriggan will escalate to the point of murder.

Social media was inundated with videos over the weekend, one showing a youth being savagely beaten at a bus stop outside Blanchardstown Shopping Centre while another showed a home enfgulfed in an inferno in Balbriggan while gangs of youths milled around with Gardai seemingly incapable of taking action to detain or arrest them.

Balbriggan is no stranger to this kind of gang violence with hundreds of citizens braving a bitterly cold winter’s night in 2017 to protest outside the town’s Garda station demanding that authroties take more stringent actions against the young thugs.

In light of these recent incidents there have been calls by some on social media for similar protests to be organised once again in both Balbriggan and Blanchardstown to force the Gardai to take action before a gang member or innocent bystander is killed.
