Fears of widespread flooding grow as 100mm rainfall expected tomorrow

The country is bracing for yet another weekend of weather misery, as a new front approaching from the Atlantic is set to bring up to 100mm of rain in places over the next 48 hours.

Some areas are already underwater, and more rain will only make matters much worse.

The provinces of Munster, Connacht and Leinster will likely get most of the rain, while Ulster might escape the worst of it.

An Orange, or even Red rainfall alert is expected to be in place before dawn tomorrow morning.
