Olabamidele Olumide Bewaji, a 52 year old care worker at The Pillars of Mankato home in Mankato, Minnesota has been accused of attacking and raping an 83 year old Alzheimer patient this month and has appeared in court charged with felony sexual assault
The patients son witnessed the attack on a surveillance camera he had set up in his mothers room to monitor his mothers room in his absence. The son says he saw Bewaji allegedly caress his mother, before stripping her clothes off and sexually assaulting the woman.
The son described how he allegedly saw the carer climb into the bed with the patient and sexually assaulted her a second time.
The surveillance camera set up by the woman’s son had a speaker that let him broadcast his voice into her room. The son ordered Bewaji to leave his mother alone and then called the police who visited the nursing home and found the patient half naked and unable to understand what had happened to her reports the Metro.
Bewwaji initially denied the charges against him then alleged the elderly patient made overtures to him. It’s alleged he later admitted a second sexual encounter with the same patient a month earlier. He is held in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
